The Garena's Garena premier league (GPL) began in May 2012. The GPL is a pro online gaming competition that lasts 6 months and features over 100 games. GPL's inaugural season features six teams made up of professionally-trained League of Legends players. These teams represent top players from their respective countries. GPL games are recorded on television and broadcast along with the commentary. These are made available to the public to see on GPL's official website. GPL official website In January 2013 Garena has announced the return of the second seasons of Garena Premier League, which would start on 4 January 2013. Garena Premier League, 2013 includes two teams from Taiwan & Vietnam. The current total of eight teams is now up to nine. The teams are: AHQ (Asia), Saigon Fantastic Five (Saigon Jokers), Bangkok Titans (Bangkok) and Kuala Lumpur Hunters(Kuala Lumpur), Manila Eagles(Manila) The Taipei Assassins and Singapore Sentinels. The Garena E-Sports Arena, a venue for esports is a venue that was inaugurated in November of 2014 in the Neihu District of Taipei. The studio was constructed in order to host the League of Legends Masters Series, the world's top LoL Taiwan, Hong Kong and Macau league that was an offshoot of GPL. Garena has started this league Iron Solari League - a League of Legends competition for women in the Philippines beginning in January 2015. The event is held in the second month of every month. The purpose of the event is to encourage participation in underrepresented groups, and it's open to anyone who self-identifies as a woman. In addition to tournaments that are competitive, Garena also organizes events that allow users who want to connect and meet offline. This includes the annual Garena Carnival that is held in Singapore and Malaysia.
