Awkwafina

American musician and actor Awkwafina began her career with hilarious songs that dealt with sexuality and identity with a an incisive and humorous perspective, before expanding her reach into Hollywood. Nora Lum, born in Forest Hills Queens to Chinese and Korean immigrants, was her initial musical exposure. She played the trumpet. Additionally, she was given the classical and jazz education later exploring hip-hop in her teenager. In her studies, she studied journalism as well as women's studies. She even studying Mandarin in Beijing for a stint. It wasn't until after graduating that she switched her focus on music. After making headlines via the Internet the My Vag song My Vag was a reaction to the song of Mickey Avalon's My Dick. It eventually was included on her debut album Yellow Ranger. The other viral hit songs included queef song, as well as the winking NYC Bitchecity tour. This latter song was directly tied to Awkwafina's NYC, a 2015 travel guide. The singer decided to pursue a career as an actor following her completion of two ventures as a musician and author. In addition to early shows like Girl Code and Tawk she was also featured in movies such as Neighbors 2. Storks and Bad Rap. In 2018 she scored breakout roles in a handful of high-profile films like Dude Ocean's 8 and Crazy Rich Asians. That June she issued the EP In Fina We Trust.
